Frozen Yogurt Blueberry Bark

This is the one I make when a dog around here needs to lose a few pounds but still deserves a treat on a hot day. It's mostly plain yogurt, so it's about as low-calorie as frozen treats get, and it breaks into pieces easily so you can hand out exactly as much as makes sense.

Prep time: 5 minutes Freeze time: 3 hours Yield: One tray, breaks into 12-16 pieces

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Spread the yogurt out evenly, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Scatter the blueberries across the top and press them in slightly.
  4. Freeze for at least 3 hours, until solid.
  5. Break into pieces like bark and store in a freezer bag.
On the yogurt: stick to plain, unsweetened yogurt. Flavored or sweetened varieties often contain xylitol or way more sugar than a dog needs. If your dog's dairy-sensitive, a plain dairy-free yogurt alternative works fine too, as long as it's unsweetened.

Because it breaks apart unevenly, this one's naturally easy to portion small for dogs carrying a little extra weight. Hand out a couple of the smaller pieces instead of a big slab.
